The Mountain Home City Council convened for a special meeting Thursday afternoon to approve a resolution supporting a grant application from the Baxter Health Hospital Foundation, which is seeking an Arkansas Community Assistance Grant totaling $97,290.
Trisha Terry, a gift officer for the foundation, presented the request to the council, explaining that the funds would be used to make various improvements at the Baxter Health Wellness Center. The foundation has already raised $19,500 in matching funds as a requirement for the grant.
According to Terry, approximately $42,000 of the proposed funds would go toward new flooring. An additional $10,000 would cover the replacement of three emergency exits and repairs to stairway ramps. Other planned uses for the grant funds include purchasing exercise equipment, supporting the center’s Rock Steady Boxing program, and covering employee salaries.
The council’s approval of the resolution was needed as part of the foundation’s grant application process. The resolution passed unanimously.
This was not part of the council's originally scheduled meeting. The regular session, which had been canceled earlier due to a lack of agenda items, was replaced by this special session once the grant resolution needed timely consideration.
