Three veterans organizations in the Twin Lakes area have scheduled meetings for August and are inviting new members to join.
The Fleet Reserve Association Branch 251 will meet on Saturday, Aug. 15, at American Legion Post 52, located at 717 Market Street. A bring-your-own lunch gathering will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the meeting at noon. Organizers noted that this new start time will be permanent. Membership is open to current or former members of the Navy, Navy Reserve, Marines, Marine Reserve, Coast Guard, or Coast Guard Reserve, whether officers or enlisted personnel. The Twin Lakes Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 30 will convene at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 17, in the training room of the Mountain Home Police Department, 650 South Street, just east of the Mountain Home square. Membership is open to veterans with service-connected disabilities. Veterans are welcome to attend the meeting or seek more information by contacting Commander Dan Hall at 870-430-2322.
The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, Twin Lakes Unit 30, will hold its meeting at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the Heinz-Willett Wellness Center, Lake Forest Senior Living, formerly known as Good Samaritan, located at 300 Good Samaritan Drive. The agenda includes discussion of upcoming events, and the group encourages anyone interested in supporting veterans to attend. Guests are welcome to consider joining.
