PARAGOULD, Ark. — A Paragould man is facing multiple felony charges following a search of his home that led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and cash, authorities said.
Investigators with the Paragould Police Department’s VICE Unit executed a search warrant on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the residence of Jeremy Johnson. According to a probable cause affidavit, officers reported finding approximately 15 grams of a white crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, about 3.7 grams of a substance consistent with marijuana, an electronic scale, empty packaging materials, and $2,035 in cash.
Johnson was advised of his rights and agreed to speak with investigators, authorities said. Police also reported that he consented to a search of his cellphone, which allegedly revealed incriminating evidence.
Court documents state that Johnson admitted to purchasing multiple ounces of illegal drugs weekly but claimed he would not keep more than an ounce in his possession at any given time.
Johnson has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class A felony; possession of drug paraphernalia, a Class B felony; unlawful use of a communication device, a Class C felony; and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a Class A misdemeanor.
District Judge Curtis Hitt found probable cause for the charges and set Johnson’s bond at $100,000 surety. Should he be released, Johnson will be required to wear an ankle monitor, refrain from possessing firearms, and comply with legal and behavioral conditions set by the court.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
