LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—The Office of Keep Arkansas Beautiful is inviting volunteers to participate in the 2026 Great Arkansas Cleanup, the state’s largest annual effort to remove litter and beautify public spaces.
The initiative, which runs from Saturday, Sept. 12, through Saturday, Oct. 31, is organized under the Arkansas Department of Transportation. Businesses, churches, civic organizations, individuals, local governments, and youth groups are encouraged to register and take part.
Last year, more than 8,300 volunteers participated in 293 cleanup events across all 75 counties in Arkansas. Their efforts resulted in the collection of over 10,000 bags of litter and 65,864 pounds of recyclables. They cleaned nearly 998 miles of roads and 584 miles of shoreline, improved 1,543 public spaces, and added greenery by creating 87 new gardens and green spaces, planting 834 flowers and 485 trees, and distributing 2,900 wildflower seed packets.
In addition to their on-the-ground activities, volunteers reached an estimated 3.6 million residents through cleanup events and related educational initiatives.
