Three individuals face a combined total of over 250 criminal charges following multiple thefts at a Mountain View laundromat last month.
According to the Mountain View Police Department, Harley James Moser, 26, Alexa Grace Patterson, 20, and David Lee Jones, 42, were arrested in connection with the incidents, which occurred at Peachy Clean Laundry Mat on three separate occasions in July. Probable cause affidavits reveal that the suspects allegedly used stolen keys to access coin boxes in washers, dryers, and the laundromat’s change machine.
The investigation began after a report was filed on July 21. The business owner informed authorities that a spare set of keys fitting the coin boxes on the machines had been reported missing. Surveillance footage from July 19 appeared to show Moser using the stolen keys to open 42 machines and empty quarters into a backpack while Patterson covered the windows with a blanket. Police estimate the theft resulted in a loss of $500 to $600 in cash.
Additional incidents occurred on July 24 and the early hours of July 26. On the first occasion, Moser and Patterson allegedly returned in Patterson’s vehicle to commit additional thefts. Days later, investigators say Moser and Jones entered the laundromat; Jones reportedly opened the change machine with a key, and the suspects left with more money in a backpack.
Police later executed a search warrant at a cabin where the three individuals were staying. Officers say they discovered clothing matching what Moser and Jones were seen wearing during the thefts. About $100 in quarters was reportedly found stacked in the living room, along with the stolen keys concealed in a bag in a vehicle at the cabin.
During questioning, Moser admitted to entering the laundromat, using the stolen keys, and taking cash from the machines, police said. He faces 129 counts of breaking or entering, in addition to charges of property theft and second-degree criminal mischief. All but one of Moser’s charges are felonies. He also faces a penalty enhancement for being a habitual offender. His bond has been set at $40,000, and he is currently being held in the Stone County Jail.
Patterson faces 86 counts of breaking or entering and two counts of property theft, all felonies. Jones is charged with 43 counts of breaking or entering and one count of property theft, also felonies, and faces an additional enhancement for habitual offender status. Both Patterson and Jones remain in the Stone County Jail with bonds set at $35,000 each.
