A Cherokee Village man has been charged after allegedly threatening volunteer firefighters responding to a medical emergency in Fulton County.
John Stewart, 64, faces a felony count of terroristic threatening and a misdemeanor charge of obstructing governmental operations in connection with the June 13 incident, according to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies say the 9 Mile Ridge Fire Department had responded to a medical call on Red Squirrel Trail, located north of Cherokee Village. While emergency responders were tending to the patient, Stewart reportedly made threats of physical harm to the firefighters.
Witness statements gathered by deputies indicate that the firefighters attempted to remove Stewart from the scene as he was not involved in the call. As they did so, Stewart allegedly threatened to hit them and continued to interfere with their efforts to provide medical aid.
Stewart was later charged and released after posting bond.
