The Ozark Regional Arts Council (ORAC) will host its annual 6×6 Art Auction on Thursday evening at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home campus. The event, which starts at 6 p.m., will feature small, original art pieces donated by local and regional artists for auction.
Proceeds from the auction will support ORAC’s efforts to promote arts and culture across north central Arkansas. Dana Johnson of the council emphasized the importance of the fundraiser in sustaining the organization’s mission and providing opportunities for local artists.
In addition to the silent auction, attendees can enjoy food, drinks, and live entertainment while browsing the artwork. This year’s event will showcase a record 93 six-by-six-inch pieces available for bidding, with starting prices of $16 and $4 bid increments.
A highlight of the evening will be the Round Robin competition, described by council member Lucinda Blair and Johnson as a unique segment where three artists rotate between easels, collaboratively creating original paintings. The competition adds an interactive element to the event and underscores the creativity of the region’s arts community.
ORAC’s gallery at The Sheid features rotating exhibits showcasing individual artists and groups. Exhibits change approximately every 30 days, providing a platform for a diverse range of artistic styles and talent.
