A house fire in the Rea Valley area of Marion County claimed one life Saturday morning, according to Sheriff Gregg Alexander.
Marion County 911 received a report of the structure fire on County Road 6068 at approximately 8:28 a.m. When firefighters from the Flippin and Rea Valley volunteer fire departments arrived on the scene, the home was fully engulfed in flames.
After the fire was extinguished, firefighters discovered a body inside the residence. The victim’s identity has not been released. The remains were turned over to the Marion County Coroner’s Office and will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
Authorities reported that investigators processed the scene and conducted interviews as part of the ongoing investigation. Additional details will be provided as they become available.
Firefighters from Rea Valley, Flippin, Yellville, Summit, and Fairview volunteer fire departments worked together to extinguish the blaze and secure the scene.
