COTTON PLANT, Ark. — A shooting in Cotton Plant on Saturday left one man dead and two women injured, according to Arkansas State Police (ASP).

Deputies from the Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the 300 block of Susie Avenue on August 1 after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, authorities found Omari Chapple, 20, and Talisha Chapple, 40, both of Woodruff County, with gunshot wounds, ASP reported.

Omari Chapple was transported by ambulance to Unity Health-White County Medical Center in Searcy, where he succumbed to his injuries. Talisha Chapple was airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, where she was listed in stable condition as of Monday.

Officials later discovered that a third victim, 22-year-old Annisia Atkins of Cotton Plant, had also been shot. Atkins was taken by private vehicle to Forrest City Medical Center before being flown to Regional One Health, where she was reported in critical condition.

No information regarding a possible suspect or arrests has been released. The Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division is assisting the Woodruff County Sheriff’s Office in the ongoing investigation.
