A Batesville man faces a serious felony drug charge that could lead to decades behind bars if convicted.
According to an affidavit, 39-year-old Corey Minchew allegedly sold crystal methamphetamine to an undercover informant. Minchew is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, specifically methamphetamine, in an amount exceeding 10 grams but below 200 grams. The charge is a Class Y felony, the most severe classification in Arkansas next to capital offenses. If found guilty, Minchew could face a prison sentence of 10 to 40 years in the Arkansas Division of Correction, as well as a fine of up to $25,000.
Court records also show that Minchew is charged as a habitual offender, which may influence sentencing if he is convicted. He is currently being held on a $40,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Independence County Court on Wednesday.
No further details about the investigation were immediately available, and Minchew's legal representation, if any, was not mentioned in available reports.
