The Arkansas State University Department of Theatre is set to stage the beloved musical, "Little Shop of Horrors," this November at the Fowler Center’s Drama Theatre in Jonesboro.

Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 13, 14, 20, and 21, with matinee shows at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays, Nov. 15 and 22.

"Little Shop of Horrors," based on the 1960 black comedy film, features music by Alan Menken with a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman. The story follows Seymour, a struggling florist on Skid Row, who discovers a strange plant offering him fame, fortune, and love—at a dangerous price. Set to an unforgettable score inspired by doo-wop, Motown, and rock and roll, the production blends humor, heart, and mild horror.

The cast includes a mix of local and regional talent: Zander Bishop of Trumann as Seymour Krelborn, Kelly Clarke from Johannesburg, South Africa, and Lynzee Owens of Clarksville alternating as Audrey, and Adam Arizaga of Russellville portraying Orin and other characters. Performers Katherine McDaniel of Paragould and La’Ray Watson of Trumann will provide the voice of Audrey II, the plant, with Allyson Hyatt of Harrison and William Hankins of Pocahontas as puppeteers.

The artistic team includes A-State faculty and students, with DayDay Robinson directing and serving as intimacy choreographer and dialect coach, and Dr. Kristen Sullivan overseeing music direction. Choreography is led by Libby Wills of Russellville, and the design team features contributions from professors and student assistants across lighting, sound, costumes, and stage management.

Audience members are advised of content warnings for themes including depictions of domestic abuse, murder, comedic violence, mild language, and scenes featuring a man-eating plant. The musical is recommended for ages 13 and older.
