A 24-year-old Izard County woman has been arrested on charges stemming from an alleged assault on her ex-boyfriend and a break-in at his residence in Mountain Home. The woman, identified as Alexandra Vredenburg of Dolph, faces two felony charges—residential burglary and criminal mischief—as well as misdemeanor charges of third-degree battery and public intoxication.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, officers initially responded to a downtown bar late Saturday night after receiving a report of a suicidal female who had reportedly injured herself. Officers found Vredenburg at the bar, where she explained that she had cut her hand on an unknown object but declined medical assistance. She admitted to being upset after seeing her ex-boyfriend arrive at the bar with another woman.
After officers left the bar, they were dispatched to investigate a possible residential burglary. At the ex-boyfriend’s residence, police observed blood on the doorknob and throughout the home. Inside, they found a smashed television with a boot print, which officers believed resembled Vredenburg’s footwear. In the garage, all four tires of the victim’s vehicle had been slashed, and a bloodied knife was discovered on the car's hood.
The victim told police he suspected Vredenburg was responsible for the damage. He reported that she had struck him in the face with both open and closed hands earlier in the evening at the bar. Officers noted red marks on the victim’s face consistent with his account.
Vredenburg was detained at the bar, where officers took a photograph of her boot. The photo was compared to the boot print on the damaged television at the scene of the break-in and was reported to be a match. A search of Vredenburg’s vehicle reportedly revealed blood on and near the driver’s side door.
Vredenburg was later released after posting a $5,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
