The National Weather Service (NWS) in Little Rock has issued a frost advisory for much of the Twin Lakes area this weekend. Meteorologist Charlie Kelly with the NWS emphasized the importance of preparing for the potentially damaging weather conditions.
"Now is the time to bring in outside plants or cover up vegetation that cannot be moved inside," Kelly urged during a statement to KTLO.
Vicki Garner, a local gardening expert with Gardening in the Ozarks, echoed this advice, recommending residents secure any plants that might be vulnerable to cold weather. The frost may serve as an early sign of colder temperatures expected later this month and into December.
Temperatures in the region are forecast to drop significantly in low-lying valley areas, raising the possibility of a light freeze. Conditions are expected to ease by Sunday as southern winds moderate temperatures toward the end of the weekend.
The advisory highlights the need for caution, especially for those with outdoor plants or crops, as the first frost can be especially damaging if preparations are not made. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from local weather services regarding further developments.
