JONESBORO, Ark. — Arkansas State University’s Department of Theatre will present a six-performance run of the musical “Little Shop of Horrors” beginning Friday, Nov. 13, at the Fowler Center’s Drama Theatre in Jonesboro.

The production, based on the 1960 cult-classic film, tells the story of Seymour Krelborn, a struggling florist on Skid Row who finds a mysterious plant offering fame, fortune, and love. As the plant grows, so does its sinister appetite, leading Seymour to confront difficult choices.

The music for the show is composed by Alan Menken, with a book and lyrics by Howard Ashman. The blend of comedy and horror is accompanied by a score influenced by doo-wop, Motown, and rock ’n’ roll.

Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 13, 14, 20, and 21, at 7:30 p.m. Matinee shows will take place on Sundays, Nov. 15 and 22, at 2:30 p.m.

Tickets range from $15 to $20 and can be purchased at the A-State Box Office inside First National Bank Arena from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Tickets are also available by phone at 870-972-2781 or online.

A-State students may receive a free ticket by presenting a valid student ID at the box office.

The university recommends the production for audiences aged 13 and older, noting that the show includes depictions of domestic abuse, murder, campy violence played for comedy, mild language, and a man-eating plant.
