The U.S. Marshals Service Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force arrested two individuals wanted in unrelated homicide cases during operations in central Arkansas on July 30 and 31, with assistance from multiple local law enforcement agencies.
On July 30, task force members, along with the Arkansas State Police, Little Rock Police Department, and Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 Team, apprehended Isaiah H. Houston in Little Rock. Houston was wanted in Kankakee County, Illinois, on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
According to officials, Houston fled on foot into a wooded area after an altercation on Labette Manor Drive around 11 a.m., prompting an extensive search. Authorities established a perimeter and conducted a four-hour manhunt before locating and arresting Houston without further incident.
The following day, on July 31, the task force arrested a 17-year-old juvenile suspect in Conway. The juvenile, whose identity was not released due to their age, was wanted in Holmes County, Mississippi, for accessory after the fact to homicide. Officials reported that the juvenile was taken into custody at a residence without incident.
Both Houston and the juvenile are currently awaiting extradition to their respective states.
“These arrests demonstrate that violent offenders cannot escape accountability simply by crossing state lines,” said Cory Harris, Acting U.S. Marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas. “Our task force remains committed to tirelessly locating and apprehending fugitives wanted for violent crimes.”
