Jonesboro police have released the identities of those involved in a fatal shooting at a home on Preakness Drive that killed one person and left two others injured.

Kayunte Sanders, 31, died of a gunshot wound sustained at approximately 3:45 p.m. Wednesday at a residence in the 3400 block of Preakness Drive, according to information from the Jonesboro Police Department.

Sally Smith, public information officer for the department, said Sanders was both the deceased victim and a suspect in the incident.

The initial police report details that Jasmine Anderson, 27, was shot in the left hand and wrist. Another individual, 28-year-old Devandre James, was also injured, although the type and extent of his injuries were not specified in the report.

The report alleges that Sanders arrived at the home armed and began assaulting one of the victims. The shooting ensued shortly thereafter.

Authorities confirmed that a person of interest has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting. However, no formal charges have been filed as of Thursday.

The investigation is ongoing, police said, and additional details could emerge.

The Jonesboro Police Department is continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
