Arkansas State University will host a free public lecture on ethical interactions and informed decision-making at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The event will take place in the auditorium of the Carl R. Reng Student Union.
Adam Feltz, a professor of psychology at the University of Oklahoma, will deliver the lecture as part of A-State’s annual Lecture-Concert Series. The series regularly features prominent educators and performers from various disciplines.
“Feltz specializes in theoretical and applied science for ethical and informed decision-making,” said Jacob Caton, an associate professor of philosophy at A-State. “He is regarded as one of the world’s experts on the psychology and philosophy of ethical disagreement. Feltz is best known for his groundbreaking work identifying sources of fundamental philosophical biases in moral judgment.”
According to a release from A-State, Feltz has authored more than 80 publications on topics such as decision biases in surrogate decision-making and the design of ethical decision support tools and communication strategies.
“This event is intended to give helpful and practical advice to assist everyone in making better and more informed decisions,” Caton added.
The presentation, which is free and open to the public, is part of the university's efforts to engage the community in meaningful discussions on critical topics.
