Jonesboro police have arrested a 37-year-old Bono man accused of pointing a gun at a woman and chasing her during a disturbance last week, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Reco Exzaviion Jamaiin Brown faces a felony charge of aggravated assault. Special Judge Barbara Halsey set his bond at $75,000 cash or surety during a court hearing on Wednesday, Nov. 2. Brown is scheduled to appear in court again on Dec. 16.
The incident occurred in the 500 block of North Culberhouse Street. Police were dispatched to the scene after being alerted that a suspect, later identified as Brown, was armed and had fled in a black Yukon. Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop, taking Brown into custody.
A search of the vehicle revealed a Ruger LCP handgun with a loaded magazine and one round in the chamber. According to the affidavit, the gun was found in the center console and was missing a single round from its full capacity of seven.
Investigators said one of the victims, a woman, reported seeing Brown engage in an argument with another woman at the scene. Brown then reportedly retrieved a gun from his vehicle, pointed it at her, and began chasing her. The woman said she fled but saw Brown pursue a second victim.
The second victim, who works with Brown, told police he had a verbal altercation with Brown and saw him holding the gun. The man said he heard a gunshot shortly thereafter and hid until police arrived.
When questioned by officers, Brown acknowledged possessing the firearm but denied pointing it at anyone or firing it. Police records confirm that Brown did not personally know the first victim, though he and the second victim are co-workers.
Authorities have classified the charge against Brown as a Class D felony, which in Arkansas carries potential penalties of up to six years in prison and fines reaching $10,000. The investigation remains ongoing.
