Families in Cave City are invited to enjoy a free movie night in the Pocket Park tonight, hosted by the Heart of Cave City organization. The event begins at 4:30 p.m. with the park opening its seating area to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
The evening’s entertainment includes a Peanuts-themed double feature, starting with *It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown* followed by *A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.* Complimentary popcorn will also be provided. Admission is free, and organizers expect favorable weather, according to Heart of Cave City representative Brandi Schulz. Previous movie nights at the venue experienced weather-related delays.
Beyond tonight's festivities, efforts to revitalize downtown Cave City continue with the “Onward Project,” a streetscape improvement initiative focused on enhancing the 300 to 100 blocks of Main Street. Current work involves replacing oversized, multi-building awnings with appropriately sized individual awnings for local shops. The project is restoring historic architectural features uncovered during renovations, such as vintage funeral home signage and original fieldstone structures.
Project managers aim to complete the awning upgrades by late November or early December, in time for the holiday season.
