JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro employee has been charged with commercial burglary and falsifying business records, accused of entering a restricted office at his workplace and altering his personnel file, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
Franklin Rashad Harris made a court appearance on November 4 before Special Judge Barbara Halsey. Bond was set at $2,500, either cash or surety, and the judge barred him from returning to the business, located on Highland Drive. Commercial burglary is classified as a Class C felony, while falsifying business records is a Class A misdemeanor in Arkansas.
The allegations stem from an incident on October 17, when the company’s chief financial officer contacted Jonesboro police to report unauthorized access to a secured area within the business. According to the affidavit, electronic access locks had been temporarily disabled for an on-site company event, creating an opportunity for Harris to enter a restricted human resources section.
Once inside, Harris reportedly entered the CFO’s personal office and photographed two employee termination letters left on the desk using his cellphone. Investigators allege that he searched desk drawers, accessed physical personnel files, and located his own employee record. Harris is accused of removing an employment-required qualification test from his file and replacing it with a different document.
According to investigators, Harris initially acknowledged his actions during an internal company investigation. He later repeated his admissions during a police interview after being read his rights, confirming that he had entered the restricted area without authorization, photographed confidential documents, and altered his file, the affidavit states.
Harris’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 16 at 8:30 a.m. in Craighead County Circuit Court.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
