An 83-year-old woman from Bono was arrested and charged with contempt of court in Fulton County after allegedly failing to make court-ordered restitution payments.

Maude Boyd’s charges stem from a 2018 case in which she was accused of multiple financial crimes, including three counts of second-degree forgery, a felony, as well as Class D felony theft of property and seven counts of Class A misdemeanor theft of property. Following her arrest in that case, Boyd entered a plea agreement in which she was sentenced to probation and ordered to pay fines, court costs, and restitution.

According to court documents, restitution payments ceased in 2023. As a result, Boyd was recently found in contempt of court for failing to comply with the payment terms. She is currently being held at the Fulton County Detention Center for five days, during which time she will receive credit toward her outstanding fines.

Boyd has been ordered to reappear in court on November 16 to present evidence detailing her inability to continue making payments. At that hearing, she will be expected to provide documentation or testimony regarding her financial situation.

No additional details regarding Boyd’s financial obligations or the total amount owed were immediately available. The case underscores the legal expectations of restitution compliance, even in plea deals that offer probation as an alternative to incarceration.
