The Mountain View Yellowjackets will play their final conference game of the season Friday night, hosting the Quitman Bulldogs with significant playoff implications on the line.

After clinching a berth in the Class 3A state playoffs, Mountain View will aim to secure homefield advantage for the first round by winning this key matchup. Head coach Curtis Sims emphasized the value of playing in front of the home crowd during an interview earlier this week, expressing pride in his team's work throughout the season.

The Yellowjackets bring momentum into tonight's game following last week’s win over Riverview. The team is healthy and focused on its preparations to face Quitman. Defensively, Sims noted that Quitman poses a strong challenge, particularly through their quarterback’s play. However, he is confident in Mountain View’s defensive players, who he says are stepping up and ready to meet the challenge.

On the offensive side, quarterback Noah Davis has been pivotal for the Yellowjackets, delivering consecutive performances of over 100 yards both rushing and passing in recent games. He has been supported by an impactful group of running backs—Alaska McDaniel, George Rector, and Micah Moore—as well as a reliable receiving corps. While the offense has been well-rounded, Sims highlighted that success running the football will be a critical factor in securing a victory against Quitman.

Reflecting on the season’s progress, Sims remarked on the potential he saw in his team at the beginning of the year and expressed pride in their accomplishment of reaching the playoffs. Now, with homefield advantage at stake, they aim to take another significant step forward.

Kickoff between Mountain View and Quitman is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Yellowjacket Stadium in Mountain View.
