The Mountain Home City Council is set to discuss proposed changes to its ordinance adoption process during its regular meeting on Thursday at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building at 720 Hickory Street and is open to the public.

City Clerk Scott Liles will present the proposed changes, which would affect how the council suspends its rules to advance ordinances toward adoption. If approved, the changes would take effect starting in January 2027.

Liles is also expected to provide an update on plans for future ordinance books and adjustments to the city’s 2026 budget. Alma Clark will present the budget revisions.

The council is also scheduled to consider a resolution authorizing the Street Department to purchase a Ford F-550 Super Duty truck from T&B Auto Sales in Bryant. The proposed purchase, recommended by Steve Hill, would waive the competitive bidding process and cost the city $64,995.

In addition, the council will hold the second reading of an ordinance that adopts the 2026 National Electrical Code, officially titled the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 70. The ordinance, presented by Clay Strain, would establish updated local regulations for electrical work and repeal two earlier ordinances, 1997-7 and 2005-8.

The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about these proposals and other city matters.
