Hunters in Mountain Home are being encouraged to donate a deer this season to help feed families in need through the Bridges of Mountain Home Deer Drive. The initiative allows Mountain Home Public Schools students, employees, and their spouses to contribute to the effort by providing skinned and quartered deer.

Donations can be dropped off at The Meat Shop, located at 1224 Commerce Drive, from Monday to Saturday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Donors need to complete a form with their customer ID number and the deer’s tag number, and must inform staff that the donation is for the Bridges of Mountain Home Deer Drive. Processing fees are covered, and the donated venison will be stored in the Bridges program freezer located on campus. From there, school counselors will distribute the meat to families experiencing food insecurity.

This effort is a collaboration between Pinkston’s OA Mentored Hunters, Bridges of Mountain Home, and the Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry Foundation. Bridges of Mountain Home operates as the food pantry for the school district, helping to address hunger among local families. Earlier this year, the pantry received a significant donation of 709 pounds of ground beef from E Bar A Butchery in Salem.
