EDP Renewables North America has commenced construction on Cypress Knee Solar, a 250-megawatt solar energy project in Chicot County.

The project—made possible through a long-term power purchase agreement with Meta, the parent company of Facebook—is scheduled for completion by 2028. At its peak, construction is anticipated to support several hundred jobs in the region.

Once operational, the facility is expected to generate $25 million in tax revenue for Chicot County, contributing to funding for local schools, infrastructure upgrades, emergency services, and other community priorities, according to EDP Renewables.

In addition to the economic benefits, EDP Renewables has pledged over $77,000 to local organizations and programs. These contributions include funding for the restoration of the Lakeside High School greenhouse, support for the Lakeside Robotics team, and resources for the Lake Village food pantry.

The project is part of EDP Renewables’ efforts to expand renewable energy infrastructure across the U.S., and Meta’s broader commitment to sustainability initiatives.
