The Highland School District remains closed Wednesday as testing and remediation efforts continue following the possible discovery of mold in some of its facilities last week.
The temporary closure impacts all campuses, including the high school, middle school, and Cherokee Elementary. However, the district has announced that Highland Preschool will remain open.
To address the situation, the district has engaged EnviroPro to conduct environmental testing and provide recommendations and protocols for any necessary remediation. Based on those assessments, ServPro has been hired to handle remediation and abatement services in alignment with the provided guidelines.
The district has informed state officials about the situation and assured families and staff that their concerns and anxiety are being taken seriously as the process unfolds.
Superintendent’s office confirmed it is actively exploring options to make up for missed instructional days. Potential solutions include modifying the school calendar to recover lost time.
Updates regarding the reopening of schools and any corrective measures will be shared as more information becomes available.
