JONESBORO, Ark. – Arkansas voters approved three statewide ballot measures during Tuesday’s election, according to early unofficial results reported by the Associated Press. A fourth proposal remains too close to call.

One of the approved measures, Ballot Issue No. 1, amends the Arkansas Constitution to clarify that only U.S. citizens are eligible to vote in state elections. The Associated Press reported its passage on Tuesday night.

Another measure, Issue No. 2, also secured voter approval. This amendment establishes the right to keep and bear arms as a “natural, fundamental, and individual right that shall not be infringed.”

Arkansans also passed Issue No. 4, granting authority to the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission to issue up to $500 million in general obligation bonds. These funds will support water-related infrastructure projects such as water treatment systems, waste disposal, flood and storm control, irrigation, and pollution abatement. Early results show significant support for this initiative aimed at addressing critical infrastructure needs statewide.

Not yet decided is Issue No. 3, which would allow the state legislature to create programs, including designating Economic Development Districts and making loans or grants of public funds, to stimulate state economic development. The Associated Press has reported no final call on this measure as of Wednesday morning.

Election results remain unofficial until certified. For further details and results, Arkansans can refer to state election officials or updates from the Associated Press.
