JONESBORO, Ark. — The race for Jonesboro City Council, Ward 5, Position 1, is heading to a runoff election after no candidate secured a majority in the general election.
According to the Craighead County Clerk’s Office, incumbent LJ Bryant led the field with 1,018 votes. Patti Lack followed with 776 votes, Vince Pearcy received 597 votes, and James Carl Wilson Jr. garnered 254 votes. These totals exclude absentee ballots.
Under Arkansas law, if no candidate earns more than 50% of the votes cast, the top two candidates advance to a runoff. With Bryant and Lack finishing as the top contenders, voters will return to the polls on Dec. 1 to make their final choice.
The outcome of this runoff will decide who represents Ward 5, Position 1, on the Jonesboro City Council.
