Lt. Gov. Leslie Rutledge has won her re-election campaign, ensuring a second term as Arkansas' lieutenant governor. The Associated Press called the race based on initial election results, which showed the Republican incumbent defeating her Libertarian challenger, Michael Kalagias.

Rutledge first took office as lieutenant governor in 2023. Before her initial election, she served as Arkansas' attorney general from 2015 to 2023, becoming the first woman elected to that position in the state’s history.

Her victory comes as part of broader statewide contests during Arkansas' midterm elections. Full statewide results are expected to be finalized in the coming days, with election officials continuing to count ballots.

Rutledge's tenure as lieutenant governor has included efforts to promote education initiatives, economic development, and policies geared toward reducing government regulations.

This result marks yet another comfortable victory for the state’s Republican Party, which has maintained dominance in statewide offices for over a decade.

Kalagias, representing the Libertarian Party, did not issue an immediate public statement following the release of results Tuesday night.
