An 83-year-old Bono woman, Maude Ellen Boyd, is currently in custody at the Fulton County Detention Center after being held in contempt of court for unpaid fines, court costs, and restitution.

The charges against Boyd originate from a 2018 case in which she was convicted on multiple counts, including 10 counts of second-degree forgery, three counts of felony theft of property, and seven counts of misdemeanor theft of property. Following a negotiated plea agreement, Boyd was sentenced to probation and ordered to make monthly payments to cover financial penalties and restitution.

According to court documents, Boyd has not made any payments toward these obligations since 2023. This failure to comply led to her being found in contempt of court. She was sentenced to five days in jail, during which time she will receive credit towards her outstanding fines.

Boyd has been ordered to reappear in court on November 16 to present evidence explaining her inability to fulfill the payment terms set by the court.

Officials have not disclosed additional details about the case, and no further statements have been made regarding whether Boyd has sought assistance or alternate arrangements to address the payments.
