Voters in Arkansas should be prepared with the necessary information and materials before heading to the polls.

Polls across the state will open Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. Those who are still in line at closing time will be allowed to cast their ballots, as long as they were in line before the deadline.

Craighead County Clerk MaryDawn Marshall confirmed the rule, saying, “As long as they’re in line at 7:30, they’re allowed to vote no matter how long it takes. But they have to be in line at 7:30.”

A valid photo ID is required to vote. Acceptable forms of identification include an Arkansas driver’s license, a state ID, or a U.S. passport. College students registered to vote elsewhere in Arkansas can vote in Craighead County but must update their voter registration to reflect their current address. This can be done at the polling site if needed. Marshall advised students to verify their information in advance through the state’s VoterView tool to minimize any delays.

Additionally, voters should avoid wearing campaign-related clothing or accessories when they go to vote. Marshall explained that campaign materials, including hats, buttons, and shirts, must remain at least 100 feet away from any polling site entrance. Poll workers are required by law to ask individuals wearing such items to either remove or cover them. Violations of this law are classified as a Class A misdemeanor, which may result in fines or up to a year in jail.

Craighead County does not assign voters to specific precincts. Residents have the flexibility to cast their ballots at any of the county's 14 voting centers.
