Pinkston Middle School’s seventh-grade class is inviting local veterans to participate in the third annual Take a Veteran to School Day on Monday, Nov. 6. The event offers an opportunity for veterans to share their experiences and interact with students during social studies classes throughout the day.
Veterans are encouraged to bring photos, memorabilia, or other keepsakes from their service to display and discuss. The school has requested that no weapons be brought to the campus.
To assist in planning, the school asks those interested in attending to RSVP by Friday, Oct. 30. Veterans can confirm their participation by calling the Pinkston Middle School office at 870-425-1236 or emailing llacefield@mhbombers.com. They should also indicate whether they plan to stay for the morning, the afternoon, or the entire day.
The day begins with a sign-in period from 7:45 to 8:30 a.m., during which veterans can check in, set up their displays, and enjoy coffee and donuts provided by Kim Shaw Allstate Insurance. Students will be stationed outside to greet veterans, assist with carrying items, and guide them to their locations. Parking is available in any open space near the front of the school, including along the drive-through loop adjacent to the parking lot.
The event officially starts with a welcome at 8:30 a.m., followed by morning classroom visits from 8:50 to 11:00 a.m. Lunch, catered by Holy Smokes BBQ and sponsored by Century Bank of the Ozarks, will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon classroom visits will take place from 12:35 to 3:00 p.m. Veterans are welcome to stay for as much or as little of the event as their schedules allow.
Pinkston Middle School is located at 1301 S. College St. in Mountain Home. The school looks forward to honoring local veterans and providing students with an opportunity to learn about their service and sacrifices.
