The front glass door of the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office administrative building in downtown Mountain Home was shattered Sunday evening in an apparent act of vandalism, according to local authorities.
Chief Deputy Jeff Lewis stated he discovered the damage early Monday morning upon arriving for work. Initial reports indicate that the vandal threw a rock to break one side of the building's glass entry doors. No arrest had been made as of Monday afternoon; however, Lewis confirmed that a suspect is under investigation in connection with the incident.
Lewis noted that the vandalism appears to be deliberate, describing the suspect as someone “not happy with the authorities.” If identified and charged, the individual could potentially face significant legal repercussions for the act.
Incidents of vandalism targeting the department’s facilities are described as uncommon. Nevertheless, authorities are treating the case with seriousness and conducting a thorough investigation.
Additional details may be released as the investigation progresses.
