JONESBORO, Ark. — Beverly Vance Aikins, the mother of Vice President JD Vance, delivered a personal and heartfelt address about her journey as a recovering addict during an event at Sanctuary Church in Jonesboro.
The event, held on Friday, July 31, began at 6:30 p.m. and was preceded by a free community dinner. Organized by church staff, the gathering was intended to provide support and inspiration not only for individuals battling addiction but also for those carrying other kinds of burdens.
Pastor Kenneth O’Connell of Sanctuary Church spoke about the broader mission of the event. "It’s also for people who have silent traumas through the years. It’s for people who have come from difficult backgrounds and that have had a hard time in their lives," O’Connell said. "And for us to host this event, it’s an opportunity."
Aikins’s appearance was part of the church's broader outreach efforts, aimed at community healing and embracing individuals from all walks of life who may be struggling.
The event marks a continued focus on support for addiction recovery and addressing emotional challenges within the local community.
