State Representative Trey Steimel recently obtained a $1,000 grant for the Black River Area Development Corporation (BRAD) through the Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance. The grant helped address food insecurity in the area by funding food package distributions for families during the annual back-to-school period.

The initiative aimed to assist local students by ensuring they entered the school year with consistent access to nutritious meals, a critical factor for academic success and overall well-being. BRAD, a community-focused organization, has been actively involved in supporting families through essential services, including food assistance programs.

The Arkansas Hunger Relief Alliance, which awarded the funding, works with partners statewide to reduce hunger and improve food security for Arkansas residents. Its grant program helps to support local organizations addressing specific community needs like those served by BRAD.
