The U.S. Geological Service (USGS) reported a minor earthquake Sunday evening in northern Fulton County, approximately 31 miles northeast of Mountain Home. The 2.2 magnitude quake occurred at 9:10 p.m., with its epicenter located near Old Ridge Road off Highway 395.
The quake was recorded at a depth of 3 kilometers (just under 2 miles), according to the USGS. Earthquakes below magnitude 3 are typically too weak to be felt by most people. However, shallow quakes, like this one, can sometimes be noticeable if individuals are near the epicenter and there are minimal ambient disturbances such as noise or traffic vibrations.
No reports of damage or injuries have been released at this time.
