The University of Missouri Tigers pushed their season record to 6-2 on Saturday night with a commanding 34-10 victory over the University of Arkansas Razorbacks in a Southeastern Conference matchup.
Missouri capitalized on turnovers to seize control of the game, scoring 24 points off three Arkansas fumbles and one interception by Razorbacks quarterback KJ Jackson. Defensive contributions included a pivotal fumble recovery in the end zone by Darris Smith late in the first quarter, giving Missouri an early 10-0 lead.
The No. 23-ranked Tigers led 13-7 at halftime despite not scoring on offense. The momentum shifted further in Missouri’s favor during the third quarter. Quarterback Austin Simmons connected with Donovan Olugbode for a 15-yard touchdown, and running back Jamal Roberts followed up with a 2-yard rushing touchdown to extend the Tigers' lead to 27-7 with 9:47 left in the quarter.
“It was big. It was a swing of the momentum,” Roberts said about Missouri’s third-quarter performance. “We just went on a run. That’s something that we like to do on offense, just go on a run.”
Simmons finished the game with 179 passing yards and two touchdowns, the second of which came in the fourth quarter when he connected with Roberts on a 10-yard scoring pass to seal the final score. Roberts was a dominant presence on the ground, rushing for 138 yards on 23 carries while adding 20 yards and a touchdown through the air.
The contest also marked the return of Missouri All-American running back Ahmad Hardy, who had missed the first seven games of the season after being shot in the leg at an outdoor concert in May. Hardy’s involvement was limited to two carries for 5 yards in the first quarter.
“I think we were to the point where he was practicing, he looks good, there’s no medical reason not to play him. It’s just about getting his body back in shape physically,” Missouri head coach Eliah Drinkwitz said of Hardy’s return.
For Arkansas, KJ Jackson completed 20 of 34 passes for 229 yards and accounted for the team’s lone touchdown with a 1-yard rushing score. However, the Razorbacks struggled to establish their rushing attack, finishing with just 59 yards on 36 carries. The loss drops Arkansas to 3-5 overall and 1-4 in SEC competition.
Next on the schedule, Missouri will host No. 11 Texas on Saturday, Nov. 7. Arkansas will travel to face Auburn that same day.
