Grandma’s House Children's Advocacy Center provides vital support to child abuse victims in North Central Arkansas, covering seven counties. With four locations in Harrison, Berryville, Huntsville, and Mountain Home, the organization serves Baxter, Boone, Carroll, Newton, Madison, Marion, and Searcy counties.

As of this year, the advocacy center has supported more than 400 children, according to Kaleigh Soma, development director for Grandma’s House. In the Mountain Home location alone, officials have assisted 92 children in 2026, with seven added during October. Soma emphasized the urgent need for continued resources and funding to address rising demand, noting an increase of up to 45 cases monthly, particularly during the holiday season.

The advocacy center was established in Baxter County in late 2019 and has since become a critical resource for families navigating the trauma of abuse. Soma highlighted the predominance of sexual abuse among reported cases in the area, underscoring the importance of both prevention and treatment efforts.

Partners such as the Arkansas Child Abuse Hotline provide critical avenues for reporting, helping individuals connect with professional services without the fear often associated with directly contacting authorities. The child abuse hotline is operated by the state to ensure a confidential and accessible resource for concerned parties.

Grandma’s House also relies heavily on community support through donations, which Soma describes as essential for sustaining its mission. Contributions help fund preventive initiatives, counseling, and victim support services at its facilities, including its Mountain Home branch, located at 914 South Main Street.
