Izard County has received $1.1 million in federal funding to repair the Antioch Bridge, which sustained significant damage during severe flooding in April 2025, according to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

The Izard County Office of Emergency Management stated that restoring the bridge required months of coordination among local officials, state agencies, and federal authorities. County Judge Eric Smith worked closely with FEMA and the State of Arkansas through numerous meetings, project updates, and engineering assessments to secure approval for the funding and ensure the project moved forward.

The Izard County Road Department began initial work at the site on September 21. Current projections suggest the bridge reconstruction could be completed between late November and late December, depending on weather and construction conditions.

The Antioch Bridge serves as an important part of the local transportation network, and its restoration is expected to significantly improve access and connectivity in the area.
