BATESVILLE, Ark. — Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire on West Main Street in Batesville on Saturday evening. Volunteer units from the Ruddell Hill Fire Department were called shortly after 8 p.m. to assist the Batesville Fire Department, which was already on the scene.
Emergency crews concentrated their efforts on the block between the Melba Theater and Ollie’s Card Shop. Firefighters were observed entering The Studio Salon and Wheeler’s Boot Repair, two businesses located between Ollie’s and the theater. Both The Studio Salon and Wheeler’s appeared dark, while power remained on at Ollie’s and the Melba Theater.
The front entrances of all four businesses were open as firefighters worked. Caution tape was placed outside the Melba Theater and Ollie’s to keep bystanders at a safe distance.
As of Saturday night, no information regarding injuries or the fire's cause had been released. Updates will follow as this story develops.
