LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – A Batesville man convicted of producing child pornography has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Arkansas announced on Thursday, October 29, that Christopher Otero, 34, received the sentence following a guilty plea earlier this year. U.S. District Judge James M. Moody Jr. also ordered Otero to serve 10 years of supervised release after his prison term and pay $3,000 in restitution.
Otero was indicted on September 3, 2025, on three federal charges: production of child pornography, distribution of child pornography, and attempted production of child pornography. He pleaded guilty to the production charge on April 2, 2026.
According to case details provided by prosecutors, Otero engaged in a sexually explicit conversation on November 25, 2024, with an individual he believed was a father home alone with a minor child. Unbeknownst to him, he was communicating with an undercover FBI agent. During the exchange, Otero claimed to have engaged in sexual contact with minors and offered to share explicit photographs of a child.
The conversation led law enforcement to seek and execute a search warrant at Otero's residence. Authorities recovered three electronic devices, including a blue Motorola cellphone. A video found on the device, recorded on the day of the search, showed Otero sexually abusing a minor and exposing the minor’s body.
The investigation was a result of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative established in 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation. The FBI and the Independence County Sheriff’s Office worked together on the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Kristin Bryant.
Officials encourage individuals to report suspected child abuse and exploitation to appropriate authorities. Resources include the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, which can be contacted at 1-800-THE-LOST or at CyberTipline.org.
