A Jonesboro man faces multiple felony charges after police allege he stole mail from 38 individuals at an apartment complex.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, officers responded to a reported burglary in progress around 2:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at an apartment in the 500 block of North Caraway Road. A resident told officers that a man had entered their home and was found inside their living room.

When officers arrived, they identified the man as 23-year-old Kosuke Moriya. During a search, police reported finding a stamped United States Postal Service (USPS) property mailbox key and more than 40 pieces of mail belonging to 38 individuals residing in the same apartment complex. Officers also reported discovering a THC vape pen in his possession.

The police investigation determined that Moriya had also entered an additional apartment at the complex without authorization. Moriya admitted to officers that he did not reside at the location.

Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler found probable cause to charge Moriya with several offenses, including two counts of residential burglary, theft of a postal key, theft of property, and possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance.

Moriya was booked into the Craighead County Detention Center with his bond set at $100,000 cash or surety. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 16.

Residents are reminded to report any postal or suspected property thefts to their local authorities for further investigation.
