A boil water order has been issued for portions of the Lead Hill Waterworks system following a main break, according to officials.
The order affects customers north of Prairie Street and west of Arkansas State Highway 7 North. Residents in the impacted area are advised that the water may be unsafe for consumption and should take precautions such as boiling water briskly for at least one minute before drinking or using it for food preparation.
All ice cubes made with tap water should be discarded, and only boiled or bottled water should be used for making ice until further notice.
The precautionary boil water advisory will remain in place until water samples confirm the system is free of bacterial contamination and a proper disinfectant level is restored throughout the distribution network.
Affected customers are encouraged to monitor updates as officials work to resolve the issue.
