BATESVILLE, Ark. — A 25-year-old Batesville man is facing a felony charge of non-financial identity fraud following a traffic stop investigation, according to court records.

Hiran Adonias Diaz-Pisqui was taken into custody early Oct. 30 and is set to make his first appearance in circuit court on Nov. 10. According to an affidavit of probable cause, the investigation began on Oct. 24 when an Arkansas State Police trooper attempted to stop a speeding motorcycle near East Main Street in Batesville.

The affidavit states that during the pursuit, the driver discarded an employee badge bearing the name "Sean Martinez." After fleeing from the trooper, Diaz-Pisqui was apprehended and initially booked into the Independence County Detention Center on misdemeanor charges before being released later the same day.

Authorities say subsequent investigation revealed that Diaz-Pisqui, who told law enforcement he was in the United States illegally, had allegedly stolen the identity of a Texas resident. Officials allege Diaz-Pisqui used the victim’s name, date of birth, and Social Security number to submit Form I-9 employment verification documents and to obtain an Arkansas identification card.

The investigation included search warrants for employee records and concluded with Diaz-Pisqui’s arrest on the identity fraud charge. His bond has been set at $20,000.

Court documents indicate Diaz-Pisqui faces allegations that he used the stolen identity to work at a local chicken plant, though additional details about the case have not been released.

He remains in custody until his court appearance.
