The Strawberry Fire Department responded to a call Monday afternoon about a boater in distress on Lake Charles. According to Fire Chief Hunter Durham, the initial report indicated that the boat was experiencing mechanical problems and taking on water.
Upon arriving at the scene, responders located the stranded boater and deployed the department’s Marine-One rescue unit. The boater and vessel were safely brought back to shore without injuries, Durham stated. The name of the individual was not released.
The Strawberry Fire Department was assisted in the rescue effort by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies, and the Black Rock Fire Department. No additional details about the incident were immediately available.
