A 19-year-old Greene County man faces a second-degree sexual assault charge after authorities alleged he repeatedly assaulted a child under the age of 14. Zachary Hoyt was arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 26, following an investigation by the Greene County Sheriff’s Office.
According to an affidavit, the victim and her mother reported the incidents to law enforcement on Sept. 10. Detective Cameron Harrison conducted an interview with Hoyt on Oct. 16. During the non-custodial interview, Hoyt reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with the victim, stating it occurred “a month or two ago.”
Hoyt is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center on a $175,000 cash or surety bond. As a condition of his release, should bond be posted, a judge has ordered Hoyt to have no contact with the victim or any other minors.
Second-degree sexual assault is a Class B felony in Arkansas and carries a potential prison sentence of 5 to 20 years if convicted. The investigation remains ongoing.
