JONESBORO, Ark. — A 35-year-old man was arrested after authorities say a search of his Belt Street apartment uncovered cocaine, ecstasy, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Eric Dewayne McCarroll faces three felony charges and one misdemeanor following the search on Friday, October 23, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Agents with the 2nd Judicial Drug Task Force executed a search warrant at 2003 Belt St., Apartment 8, after observing McCarroll regularly entering and leaving the residence, the affidavit states. McCarroll is identified as the sole resident of the apartment, listed on the lease and responsible for utility payments.

During the search, investigators reportedly found McCarroll and one other person, identified in the affidavit as a guest, inside a back bedroom.

Agents discovered 3.8 grams of suspected powder cocaine and 29 suspected ecstasy pills inside a black shower tote in the kitchen, according to the affidavit. Both substances field-tested positive for cocaine and MDMA, respectively. Authorities also reported recovering two digital scales with suspected cocaine residue, 3.8 grams of suspected marijuana, and $381 in cash from the kitchen.

In the bedroom, investigators said they located additional evidence of drug activity, including a torn $1 bill containing 0.2 grams of suspected powder cocaine and a straw with suspected cocaine residue. Testing confirmed the substance was cocaine, the affidavit alleges.

McCarroll was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged as follows:

- Two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver (Class A felony and Class C felony), - Possession of drug paraphernalia (Class D felony), and - Possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (Class A misdemeanor).

On Monday, October 26, District Judge Tommy Fowler set McCarroll’s bond at $75,000 after determining there was probable cause to hold him pending further legal proceedings. His next appearance in circuit court is scheduled for December 16.

The second individual present during the search has not been charged at this time.

As with all arrests, McCarroll is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
