Several candidates have filed to run for municipal positions in North Arkansas ahead of the November election. Among them is Yellville Mayor Hunter Durren, who is seeking voter approval to serve a full term. Durren was appointed as mayor in early 2025 following the death of former Mayor Shawn Lane.
In Mountain Home, a contest has emerged for the Ward 3, Position 2 seat on the City Council. Incumbent Cary Manuel will face a challenge from Mary O’Shields, who filed to run for the position.
Other filings include Holt Dye and Rick Hawkins in Gassville. Dye filed for Ward 2, Position 2 on the City Council, while Hawkins is running for Ward 3, Position 1. In Briarcliff, Connie Street is seeking another term as council member for Ward 2, Position 2.
The filing period for municipal elections closes at noon on Wednesday. The election will be held on November 3, coinciding with Arkansas' general election.
