A minor earthquake was recorded in Mountain Home on Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The magnitude 2.1 tremor occurred at 7:46 p.m. and was centered near the intersection of the Highway 62/412 bypass and Highway 5 North.

The earthquake's depth was measured at approximately 6.2 miles underground. Officials reported no injuries or property damage as a result of the event. Earthquakes of this magnitude are generally considered weak and are often not felt by many residents.

This is one of several small earthquakes occasionally recorded in northern Arkansas, a region that experiences low to moderate seismic activity. The USGS monitors seismic events in the area to track patterns and ensure preparedness for larger events, should they occur.
