Families looking for a unique Halloween experience can head to the Baxter County Airport on Saturday, October 31, for “Treats on the Tarmac.” Hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Twin Lakes Chapter 775, the event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. on the airport ramp just outside the terminal at 6462 Highway 126 North.
Children can trick-or-treat by walking from plane to plane, collecting candy directly from aviators who will park their aircraft on the tarmac. Costumes are encouraged, and there will be candy for attendees of all ages. Admission and parking for the event are free. However, since it is weather-dependent, updates or changes will be shared on the chapter’s website at chapters.eaa.org/eaa775.
“Our goal for the event is to provide a family-friendly environment where local families can explore various aircraft and enjoy Halloween festivities,” said Bill Holland, president of EAA Chapter 775.
This Halloween event is part of the chapter’s ongoing efforts to engage local youth with aviation. In June, the chapter flew 15 young participants during a Young Eagles rally, giving them their first experience in small aircraft. Most recently, the chapter hosted the airport’s inaugural Crosswind Classic fly-in event in August, which began with a coffee and doughnuts social.
EAA Chapter 775 meets monthly on the fourth Monday at the Baxter County Airport terminal building. Meetings start at 5:30 p.m. and are open to the public.
